General FAQs

What services does Sustain and Save provide?

Sustain and Save helps organizations design, build, and operate sustainable projects by offering green building certifications (IGBC, LEED, GRIHA, GEM, EDGE), Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), and sustainability advisory services such as Carbon Footprint for products/projects, Decarbonization Roadmaps, and ESG/Sustainability reporting.

Why should I consider green building certification for my project?

Green building certification ensures your project is energy-efficient, resource-conscious, and environmentally responsible. It not only reduces operational costs but also improves occupant well-being, enhances asset value, and strengthens your organization’s reputation.

How do I know which green certification is right for my project?

The right certification depends on your project type, goals, budget, and location. We assess your project requirements and recommend the best fit—be it IGBC, LEED, GRIHA, GEM or EDGE.

Life Cycle & Sustainability Assessments

What is a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and why is it important?

LCA evaluates the environmental impact of a product or project across its entire life cycle- from raw material extraction to disposal. It helps identify hotspots, reduce emissions, and comply with sustainability regulations while supporting green certifications.

What is an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)?

An EPD is a verified document that communicates a product’s environmental impact based on LCA results. It’s especially useful for manufacturers, builders, and developers seeking to demonstrate transparency and gain a competitive edge in sustainable procurement. It is also useful for manufacturers seeking to expand their reach of products globally.

What is Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA)?

LCCA looks beyond upfront costs to assess the total cost of ownership- including operation, maintenance, and disposal. It helps clients make financially sound decisions while balancing sustainability goals.

What is Social Life Cycle Assessment (SLCA)?

SLCA complements environmental LCA by evaluating the social and socio-economic impacts of products and projects. It covers aspects such as worker rights, community impact, and supply chain responsibility.

Global (or Europe) Compliance Framework

What is the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and how does it affect my business?

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is a new rule introduced by the European Union that puts a cost on the carbon emissions linked to certain imported goods such as steel, cement, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity, and hydrogen. In simple terms, if your product has a high carbon footprint, exporting it to the EU will become more expensive.

For businesses, this means two things: first, you will need to measure and report the carbon emissions linked to your products; second, the cleaner and more efficient your production is, the lower your costs will be under CBAM. If you don’t comply, your exports to the EU could face extra charges or even risk losing market access.

The good news is that by understanding your carbon footprint and making improvements now, you not only stay compliant but also become more competitive in the long run. Our team can help you measure, report, and reduce emissions so that your products meet CBAM requirements smoothly.

Decarbonization Strategy

Do you provide support for Net Zero commitments?

Yes. Reaching Net Zero is a step-by-step journey, and we help organizations at every stage. This starts with measuring your carbon footprint, then moves to setting clear science-based targets, and finally to implementing strategies that reduce emissions across your operations and supply chain.

Where emissions cannot be fully eliminated, we also guide you in using high-quality carbon offsets responsibly. Beyond compliance, a Net Zero roadmap strengthens your brand reputation, reduces long-term costs, and prepares your business for future regulations and customer expectations.

Our role is to make this journey practical and achievable— helping you plan, act, and track progress so that Net Zero becomes a realistic goal for your business.

Green Building Services

What certifications can you help us achieve?

We provide end-to-end consulting for IGBC, LEED, GRIHA, GEM, EDGE, WELL, and other certifications. This includes project registration, documentation, strategy development, audits, and final certification support.

How long does it take to certify a green building?

Timelines vary depending on project size, scope, and chosen certification. On average, certifications can take 12-48 months. We streamline the process to ensure efficiency.

Do green buildings cost more?

While initial investment may be slightly higher, green buildings deliver long-term savings through reduced energy bills, lower maintenance costs, and higher asset valuation. Incentives and rebates also help offset initial expenses.
