Decarbonization Plan for Orange County Group
Sustain and Save supported the Orange County Group, in collaboration with the Global Building Performance Network (GBPN) to create a decarbonization plan for the company. The project included 4 major steps. baseline assessment of the current scenario, identification of gaps and improvement areas aligned with the Net Zero 2030 vision, and the presentation of a clear roadmap to help Orange County achieve its decarbonization goals.
Baseline assessment:
- Mapping the current energy, material, water, and waste emissions across all projects.
- Conducting a GHG inventory of the scope 1,2, and 3 emissions in line with the GHG protocol and ISO 14064.
Target setting:
- Identify gaps and emission hotspots to prioritize key areas.
- Define short, medium and long term targets for carbon emission reduction.
Decarbonization Measures:
- Energy - how to ensure improvement in energy efficiency and complete use of Renewable energy.
- Materials - Low-Carbon materials and EPD backed materials/ claims.
- Operations - Smart metering, Green Certifications, EV transport integration.
- Design - Adopting green building design principles to reduce energy and material use.
Roadmap Presentation
- Developing a roadmap for achieving Net Zero with yearly milestones, budgets and responsibilities.
